Education, not professional advice
The articles are for general education. They are not fire engineering, design, code-compliance, legal or medical advice, and they do not replace an assessment of your building, product, battery system or situation. Fire safety decisions should be made with a qualified fire safety professional and checked against the codes that apply where you are, as enforced by your local building control or fire authority (the "authority having jurisdiction").
In an emergency, leave the danger and call your local emergency number (112 in the EU, 911 in the US and Canada, 999 in the UK). Do not use this site for emergency guidance.
Standards, codes and data change
Articles cite specific editions of standards, codes, test methods and statistics. These are revised over time, and requirements differ between countries. Always check the current edition that applies to your project.
Do not repeat fire tests at home
Fire tests, battery abuse tests and experiments described on this site are run in laboratories with trained staff, extraction and suppression systems. Do not try to reproduce them.
Accuracy and corrections
Every article is checked against its sources before publication (see the editorial policy), but mistakes can still happen. If you find one, please tell me and it will be corrected.
Personal views
The site is a personal project. Opinions expressed here are the author's own and do not represent Institut Pprime, the Université de Poitiers, or any other organization the author works with.
