Privacy Policy

PyroRisk (pyrorisk.net) is a personal fire science blog run by Duy Cuong DINH. This page explains, in plain language, what data is processed when you visit and why. The short version: this site has no accounts, no first-party analytics, and no tracking of its own — but it uses a few third-party services, described below.

What this site does not collect

There is no sign-up, no first-party analytics script, and no first-party tracking cookies. Your theme preference (light or dark) is stored in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.

Comments (Giscus / GitHub)

Comments are powered by Giscus, which stores comments as GitHub Discussions. To comment, you sign in with your GitHub account; your comment and GitHub profile name are public. This is governed by GitHub's privacy statement. Reading comments does not require an account.

Newsletter (Buttondown)

If you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is stored by Buttondown and used only to send you the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing removes your address.

Contact form (Web3Forms)

Messages sent through the contact form are relayed by Web3Forms to my email inbox. The name, email address, and message you provide are used only to reply to you.

Hosting and fonts

The site is served by Cloudflare, which may process your IP address in server logs for security and delivery purposes (see the Cloudflare privacy policy). Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google's servers and transmits your IP address in the process (see Google Fonts privacy FAQ).

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data concerning you. For anything this site controls — newsletter subscriptions or contact form messages — email contact@pyrorisk.net and I will handle it. For data held by Google, GitHub, Buttondown, Web3Forms, or Cloudflare, their privacy policies linked above explain how to exercise your rights with them.

Changes to this policy

If the site starts using a new service that processes personal data, this page will be updated and the date above revised.
