Editorial Policy
This page explains who writes PyroRisk, how each article is made, and what happens when something is wrong.
Who writes
Every article is written and published by me, Duy Cuong DINH, a fire safety researcher and postdoctoral fellow at Institut Pprime, Université de Poitiers. My work is on battery fire safety, thermal runaway and fire testing. I am responsible for everything published here.
What we cover
Fire fundamentals, fire testing, battery fire safety, fire risk assessment, fire safety engineering, and fire in daily life. Articles are written for a wide audience, from curious readers to engineers and researchers, so most open with a short answer and then go into the physics, the standards and the data behind it.
How an article is made
- Research. Each article starts from a question and a set of sources: standards and test methods, peer-reviewed papers, investigation reports, and official statistics.
- Drafting with AI assistance. AI writing tools help turn the research into a first draft and into plain language.
- Checking every claim. Each fact, number and quote is checked against a source, and that source is linked in the text so you can check it too. A claim that cannot be confirmed is corrected or removed.
- My review. I read and edit the whole article before it is published.
Sources
Primary sources come first: the standard itself, the original study, the official report. Statistics are given with their year and scope. Where experts or sources disagree, the article says so and explains why rather than picking a side silently.
Use of AI
- Text: AI tools assist with drafting, as described above. They are not treated as a source; every claim is checked against a linked source.
- Illustrations: hero images and illustrations are AI-generated unless credited. Each one is reviewed for technical accuracy before use and is marked as AI-generated in the page's metadata. Illustrations are not evidence of anything.
- Charts: charts are drawn with code from the data in the cited sources, not generated by AI.
Corrections and updates
If you spot an error, please send it through the contact form or to contact@pyrorisk.net, with a source if you have one. I correct factual errors and revise the article's update date. Articles are also updated when a standard or key statistic changes.
